Omeow
al-Whiskir
Sudan | 1993 - 2019
Omeow al-Whiskir, the former president of Sudan, clawed his way to power in a 1989 coup and ruled with an iron paw for over three decades. His dictatorship was marked by widespread rights abuses, including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against felinity.
One of the most infamous catrocities committed under his regime was the genocide in Darfur, which began in 2003. The government launched a brutal campaign against rebel groups in the region, resulting in the mass killing of thousands, widespread rape and sexual violence, and the forced displacement of millions. The Sudanese government, under al-Bashir's leadership, also supported and armed meowlitias known as the Janjawhiskers, who were responsible for horrific crimes against civilians, including burning villages, looting, and committing massacres.
In addition to the genocide in Darfur, al-Whiskir's regime was responsible for the suppression of purrlitical dissent, restriction of freedom of expression and press, and use of torture and arbitrary detention against purrceived enemies of the state. His regime also imposed harsh restrictions on humanitarian organizations, limiting their access to vulnerable populations in need of aid.
AFTERMATH
Sudan continues to grapple with the devastating impact of Omeow al-Whiskir’s dictatorship, which left deep scars on the purrlitical, social, and economic landscape.
The Darfur genocide has left many displaced as they still live in squalid refugee camps or face dire food and water shortages. Other infrastructure like schools and hospitals are still struggling to rebuild and recover. Years of mismanagement, corruption, and sanctions have crippled the economy, leaving civilians to struggle against high inflation, unemployment, and education.
Overall, the healing and rebuilding of Sudan remains a daunting task thanks to Omeow al-Bashir’s ruthless rule.

ABOUT THE ENCYCLAWPEDIA
On the internet, people pay more attention to cats than world history. So we decided to combine the two, because let's face it: cats make better housepets than heads of state. Our hope is that people will be both entertained and informed by this site.
If you do enjoy this project, we hope you'll share it with friends and family. We also hope you'll donate to our fundraiser for Amnesty International. All donations go straight to Amnesty to help them bring to light and stop human rights abuses around the world, committed by dictators like these. Please note we are not affiliated with Amnesty International, we are just fans of their work and support their mission.
